Setting up a session for single voice
In this chapter, you will demonstrate your ability to set up a recording session for a vocalist and achieve a polished sound. You will need to find a vocalist to sing a song or perform a dramatic reading at least 2 minutes in length. You may add additional tracks if an accompaniment is desired.

Experiment with a few different miking techniques and spacing until you get the desired results. Keep track of your experimentation miking even if you don't use it in the final project. Add additional vocal or software instrument tracks to accompany this recording.
Final Project
Your completed project will need to be posted to SoundCloud and uploaded to your website with a title and artist statement describing your process in this project.
You will need to cover the following aspects:
- Create a project with a vocal track using input 1, wall mount 17 in 207B
- Check out the best practices page for distancing and positioning of the mic and your vocalist
- Use the Audio Technica AT4033/CL
- Create a cue mix for the headphone amplifier in 207B
- Set appropriate gain levels for your vocalist
- Apply an EQ setting for your vocal track
- Add at least on effect on your vocal track
