Setting up a session for drum set or Final Project Proposal
In this chapter, you will demonstrate your ability to set up a recording session in the band room for a drum kit with 2-3 mics. You will need to find a drummer to perform a complete song/beat. You may add additional tracks if vocals or other accompaniment is desired. Your final project should highlight your drum track.
You may also propose another project that highlights multiple tracks. This must be approved by the teacher.

Experiment with a few different mixing techniques and spacing until you get the desired results. Keep track of your experimentation miking even if you don't use it in the final project. Add a vocal, guitar, piano or software instrument track to accompany this recording.
Final Project
Your completed project will need to be posted to SoundCloud and uploaded to your website with a title and artist statement describing your process in this project.
You may also propose another project that highlights multiple tracks. This must be approved by the teacher.
You will need to cover the following aspects:
- Create a project with 2-3 audio tracks, input 1 for the bass drum and input 2 for the over head, and (optional) input 3 for snare in wall mounts 1, 2 and 3. Proposed projects may use other instruments is approved.
- Add mics as desired according to the configuration outlined in the best practices page
- Use the mics appropriate for the setup outlined
- Create a cue mix for the headphone amplifier
- Set appropriate gain levels for each mic
- Apply an EQ setting for your drum tracks
- Add at least on effect on your drum track
