Make it last
One of the most important duties that comes with working in a studio is caring for the equipment. The equipment we use is not only sensitive, but expensive to replace, so you must practice care to help lengthen the life of all of our equipment. Also, anyone you bring into the studio must be made aware of these practices too. It is your responsibility to ensure anyone in the studio is made aware of this.
Cable Care
The over under technique must be practiced when wrapping up audio cables at the end of each session. This technique will ensure that there are no knots or kinks in our cables. This makes them easier to unwrap and gives them a longer life. Learn it well- it is tricky at first, but will soon become second nature.
Headphone Storage
Our headphones have a disconnecting cable that needs to be taken off before storing them. Leaving them plugged in could short out the cable prematurely. Also, make sure to properly fold the headphones before returning them to their bags.
Dust Cover Mics
You may find leaving you mics set up on the stand for convenience rather them disassembling them and returning them to their cases. If this is the case, make sure to put the dust cover over the mic. This will help protect the mic in between uses.
