Power to the people.
Making sure that there is power supplied to each part of the unit seems common sense, but there is an order that needs to be followed to protect our gear and prevent any premature failure. Each part of the Recording studio is dedicate as it is powerful.
- Main- This piece of equipment is found on the lower rack. It supplies the power to all the equipment in the control booth except the computer. With out turning this on, nothing else will work. The main rack is the first to be switched on when beginning a session and last when ending a session.
- Rack- There are two individual racks on the desktop level- Studio 192 and Digimax DP88. Each have a circular power button. These supply the power to the interface between all the connections between that computer, amplifiers and speakers. The power buttons will glow blue when on. Turn these units on after the main power is on. They will power off automatically when the session is over and the main switch is turned off.
- Speakers- The studio monitor speakers allow you to hear your recordings as well as other media on the computer. They are powerful, crisp and can be delicate. Is is very important to never push the volume of these speakers to the verge of distortion. Not only will it damage your hearing, it can cause permanent damage to your ears and the speakers themselves. Be very careful with this. The switches to power on the speakers are found on the back of each unit. They should be the last thing to be powered on the beginning your session and the first to be powered off at the end of your session.
